Pathfinder Staff


The counselors at Pathfinder are carefully screened before being hired.

Each staff member is required to have completed a background check prior to employment and the directors strongly follow all references provided by the applicant.

Pathfinder's Staff are required to attend a mandatory a Staff Training Program prior to the opening of camp. All Senior Staff are required to participate in CPR and Epinephrine certification offered at the pre-camp training. The average age of our Senior Staff is 21 years of age and a great majority are returning counselors.

The Staff Training Program is a unique learning experience for our staff which includes special psychological techniques and behavior management skills used while working with children. The seminars are led by trained psychologists and are designed to help the staff in understanding the campers as individuals.

Daily morning staff meetings continue throughout the summer with the Directors in order to ensure cooperation and to refresh rules and guidelines as well as introduce new campers or activities. Pathfinder has a high percentage of returning staff members, including staff that have spent many years at Pathfinder as campers. We attribute this success to the experienced directors and original owners, Nancy and Gary Burns. Nancy and Gary are in attendance continually throughout the operation hours of camp to oversee the counselors and the campers
