Text Box: Pathfinder Country Day Camp was founded by Dr. and Mrs. Leon Lefkowitz in 1964.
They were school teachers on Long Island in the winter and had a
dream of creating a children’s day camp. “Doc” and Mrs. Lefkowitz enjoyed
teaching all year long and thought, “Wouldn’t it be wonderful to teach
sports, swimming, and art to children in the summer!?”

In 1965, Pathfinder opened its gates with 25 children. Doc drove the bus and
Mrs. Lefkowitz taught swimming and made lunches for all the children!
Together, along with their daughter Nancy, they established a wonderful place
for children to enjoy their summers!
